OK, to set the record straight -- the hard legwork on this Type-IN has mostly been done by Steven Huang of NYC. He is a graphic designer, musician and we share a liking for typewriters and also for Brompton Folder Bikes.

Steve works at Bfold in lower Manhattan, one of the biggest sellers of Bromptons in the US (out of the smallest space) .

Steve investigated and followed up on all sorts of NYC spots and nailed down Theatre 80 based on his personal connections and quiet persistence.

My job: make sure lots of typers show up for this event, with functioning machines, and also to choose and keep secret the speed typing master documents--until just before the event begins!

If you know any typespherians or even typocahedrons in the NYC area, please let them know.

If you are far away (looking at you, Shordzi and Adwoa), maybe print out a Type-IN poster anyway, and put it up in the local cafe or supermarket to foster the kind of uncertainty that fiction writers need to encounter regularly.

thanks... cheers

Mike / Phillytyper
